'While 50,000 of us stand here on the floodplains of the Holy Yamuna River, we must remember how important it is to protect our rivers and the significant impact man has had on the climate.' said the PM.
Added Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, also attending, 'We believe it is the prayer and presence of so many holy men that the river has not flooded these past few days, despite all the rain we witnessed'.
The forum hopes to gain pledges from world leaders on river protection and the prevention of rising sea levels.
The forum will end on March 13th with keynote speeches and meditation.
